Let Down.

As I walked home today from school, to my dismay while checking the mail box my National Geographic wasn't there. Putting a bit more pep of optimism in my step I walk in the door, and I spot the new National Geographic happily waiting on the table for my eager hands to flip through it's pages. Cover story: FLDS Polygamy. Not that it's not a bad choice, just that I am LDS and people seem to misunderstand that LDS are not FLDS. Curious I decided to give it a chance and really enjoyed the article. Though I DO believe they got a lot of their facts correct *applause* I think they got a few things wrong, like did Brigham Young really have 55 wives? Or that Joseph Smith denied being a polygamist, AND they failed to see WHY it started. Not to gain favor in Heavenly Fathers sight for BIG families but to take care of the widows and become their provider and patriarch. If you read Doctrine and Covenants 132: 61-64ish it explains in that time period what was proper to engage in polygamy. I do believe I want to correct Nat. Geo. on that, but then again I'm not sure where to start and what to say. Over all the issue wasn't bias, the majority was to inform of their situation which I do honor. The other articles were great with different specimen photographs from different ecosystems of the world, and Nomadic Indians, and Monkeys in Congo, and what's new for the Hubble Space program.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC

Life is about to be happy. National Geographic love should be on it's way this weekend. Is anyone else excited?

Choices.

Hum, new semester, new faces, new classes, and new commitment. I've been thinking a lot about myself and what I want to give back to the people who shape my life. Those who have served for our country by blood, words, courage and their lives. I want to give back to those who taught me, who sacrificed their time to keep me safe, educated and loved. Most importantly, I want to keep their dream alive, by honoring them with continuing their service. I know this is a lot, especially while juggling school, friends, and my extra things I have sprinkled into my days. I'm just not sure how. I just hope school won't eat me alive this semester... :)

Rainy Day

Today feels like a rainy day. I'm not sure I'm so down in the dumps. I just am. Dump. Dump. Dump. Dump. Dump.

Applause!

I finally figured out how to make my blog actually reflect myself. I decided that once I get back home, I am going to use my header picture of the water and leaves for this blogs background and the lefty something template. I looked through many blog sites to find a cute background, but can't find one. So just wait and all with be grand. :) I am excited!

2010: Resolutions

It's funny to me that sitting here lounging in a armchair is myself trying to think of what I want this year to be like. 2009 was fantastic for me. I have made new friends, been to new places, thought new things, learned new concepts and discovered more about myself and who I want to become. I guess I have to look at last years resolutions to see what I have accomplish. Too bad I don't remember and I don't believe I ever wrote them down.... well I'll just list mine for this year:

1. No procrastinating- This school year I've worked hard to keep up with my grades, and my time. I am doing great so far.

2. Not be idle- I need to work harder.

3. Patient- Mainly to family, friends and myself.

4. Plan- I need to plan my time more efficiently

5. Caring/ Service- Too often I want to help others, but I never can find something that makes me benfit. I need to do all KINDS of service.

6. Listen- mainly to my teachers

7. More uplifting- I need to not be sarcastic but happy and optimistic.

8. Temple attendence- I need to attend the temple more frequently.

9. Love- Love in the home along with patience....

10. Journal write- TOO LONG have a written in the same journal. I need to finish it!

I hope that this new year will be great! I am excited for new experiences and a new opportunity for growth.

TeXas!

On Christmas Day, I flew on my first airplane with my mother, to go to Texas. My little niece Kaylie Herdman is getting baptized tomorrow. Texas holds many wonders if you didn't know. From Round Rock Donuts and Ikea and a 2 story Barnes and Noble, to friendly Wal-Mart cashiers AND long horn cows in the pasture. I love Texas.....

Land of the Brave

America, is the land of the brave, and the home of liberty. Along with these traits of this country, morals and values brace up our country where peace and fidelity stand. At least that's what it was like in the early times of America, where religion decided ethics, and law decided peace, and the values of America weren't brash but modest. Now in our country our television is plastered with adult content that children are being exposed to. Our language is filled with crude and sarcasm, and beauty is all that meets the eye. Yesterday for New Year's Eve, I had the opportunity to watch the famous ball drop in Times Square. Jennifer Lopez performed in a semi see-through leotard, and Fergie along with Colbie Callet performed in outfits that barely covered.... you know.... BARELY! I guess what I am trying to say is that the culture of America is pathetic. Why should we stand and watch?! Homes and families are being threatened and destroyed- where we need to imply love and forgiveness. Now being only 15, my goal is to help other people see what I see. Yes, I do believe America is a great country where I know I am safe and I have the freedoms to speak, move and live freely. One might argue that America has the right to do the same, so it's no big deal if pornography is filmed and produced, or drugs stocked and sold, or abortion is abused, because it's their right to do whatever. When it's destroying what our Founding Fathers worked so hard to accomplish however by enabling the security of our Home, disgusts me. America needs to change, to change will be the biggest battle and war. We can help fight by choosing now what we stand for. "We honor best those who have gone before, when we serve well in the cause of truth." - President Gordon B. Hinkley
